Rest and Rejuvenation Day 13: Book Blog Goals

Topic of the Day:
All About The Books

2020 ended up being an incredible year for my reading. For the most part the worst my mental health is the more books I read because I’ll end up needing more escapism. All of that said, though, I am genuinely surprised at how many books I was able to read. Early on in 2020 I realized that I would be reaching the 100 bucks goal so I challenged myself to read 150 bucks. I reached the goal at the end of August and I actually gave myself time to not read unless they absolutely wanted to.
For this post I am combining my reading goals and my book blog goals. Both of those go hand-in-hand so I figured it wouldn’t be a problem to have them in one place.

100 posts in a year

This actually should not be hard unless I decide to take another month off like I did with November and December. I am going to come up with a couple of regular posts for my blog so I will have consistent posting.

One discussion every month

I forgot how much I love writing discussion posts until I began writing my thoughts down that wouldn’t be published. There’s always so many conversations to be had in the book of community and I definitely want to be a part of that. Since Twitter is not the place for nuanced conversations, I figured that I would use my blog for that purpose. I don’t entirely know what I’m going to be posting about and there will probably be months where I don’t post a discussion at all. It’s one of the reasons I limited myself to only one post because that seems to be a lot easier to handle.

100 books in a year

My reading goal for 2020 was also 100 books. I only change the goal to 150 bucks after I realize that I would reach my first goal a lot quicker than anticipated. I once again want to give myself a goal of 100 in case something changes in 2021 that will limit my ability to read as many books. Frankly I am hoping the 2021 is a lot better than 2020 so I’m hoping this is enough.

Read 5 books by Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) every month

My library is finally getting more diverse books and I am excited to check them out! I really want to do better with how diverse I read in 2021 and I finally think that I can do that. Five books by BIPOC every month seems like a manageable goal.
And that is all for my book blog and my reading goals for the year. I really wanted to simplify my goals and make it as easy for myself to reach them. 2020 taught me that I am the kind of person who needs goals, numerical especially, but I also need them to be reachable. For example, I know that having and a reading goal of 200 books in one year is not feasible for me but 100 is absolutely doable.
Do y’all like to read? Do you have numerical reading goals for the year?

They’ve helped me calm myself down during anxious moments and moments of low self esteem. I have definitely noticed a shift in my self image by repeating affirmations often.

That’s why I’ve decided that every month I’ll share affirmations I’m trying to embody!

It hasn’t been difficult because I don’t know what to post or I haven’t gotten the graphics made. No, it’s been difficult because I can’t get out of my own head.

I keep thinking that trying to create content isn’t the best idea for me. I keek thinking that I’m not good at this even though I’ve barely tried.

So, this post is me trying to get out of my head! It’s a commitment I’m making to myself and to you that I won’t give up trying!
