If you don’t know by now, I love creating different features on this blog. From my love for reading to television and movies, I want to be able to share all of that with you all. But as someone who likes to make lists and keep everything organization in some fashion, creating features was the best bet. And today I want to share another aspect of my life that is very important to me and that goes hand in hand with having this blog: writing.
I’ve been writing for a very long time and it’s hard to pin point exactly where it began. If I had to choose, I’d say in the third grade. I had gotten a writing assignment for something or another and it turned into my first story. That one page story ended up filling composition notebooks and eventually, I fell in love with WORD.
Now, after many years of having a block, I’m back to writing and with a vengeance. I want to use this space to talk about what I’m currently writing and how that process is going. I want to share all of the ups and downs of this journey to publication (it seems like I’m going on all sorts of journeys this year, doesn’t it?).
Right at this moment in time, I’m writing an adult romance centered around a 32 year-old Indian American who runs into the guy she was in love with in high school. Fate ends up bringing them together repeatedly and it turns out that they might not be over each other after all.
I’m having a lot of fun writing this story but I will admit that it’s really hard to push feelings of being inadequate out of the window. My main character, Aayushi, is demisexual and in order for her to fall in love with anyone (or get sexual with them), she has to form a deep emotional bond with that person. It helps that she and Jake, the love interest, have a long history, but they have to be able to find their way back to each other.
It’s a love to hate to love story that’s also a second chance romance and I’m excited to finish it!
