It’s honestly a little ironic to me that this blog post was the next one to be posted in my queue. I barely posted on this blog last year and that’s what I wanted to talk about now. I had one major goal for 2023 which I have already failed: consistently posting once a week on this blog. It’s been a complicated year already, though, so I am willing to give myself the benefit of the doubt. Now, I am ready to come back to this blog and revamp it into something amazing.
So, 2022 was an unexpectedly rough year and I had no interest in blogging. It all boiled down to the fact that I didn’t know what my passions were anymore. I liked to read and write, but I didn’t want to do any of that in 2022. I liked to cook but had no energy for that. Dancing? Nope. Traveling? Yes, but that was complicated too.
But now I want to get back to finding my passions. I still love to read and write and cook and dance and all the other things, which includes this blog. I won’t delay anymore and just get down to it:
Again, I recognize that I have already struggled with this but I am not giving up. I know that I want to get back to regularly blogging and thus, I am challenging myself to post once a week. In theory I will have posted 52 blog posts in 2023.
I really want to focus on quality over quantity. I know that many people say this but I have not always followed it. It wasn’t until I really reflected on the past year that I recognized that it was such an important aspect of why I consume content. I value my time so much so why would I waste that putting out content that’s awful? So, in 2023, I am promising myself to post excellent quality posts.
Allow myself to explore my niches
I thought for the longest time that this would be a personal blog. I wanted to talk about my emotions and experiences and how people can learn from them. This felt too much for me because I don’t need so many people to know my business. I then thought that it would be a great travel blog. In order for this to be a travel blog I would need to travel more and I definitely can’t afford to do that.
Now I’m not trying to box myself in to any specific niche. This felt too complicated for me at the moment because I don’t really know what my future holds. I’m just going to explore different topics and see what sticks.
In 2023 you’ll find blog posts surrounding various different topics. I am going to try and expand as much as possible and potentially narrow my focus later on in the year.
Nurture My Needs
It’s wild to me how fitting my word for the year is for what I want for this blog, but here we are. I love writing and I always have so that is one of my passions that I want to nurture this year. I want to write blog posts that I am proud of and can stand behind. I want people to find this blog and get something from it. Whether it’s travel advice or personal development advice, or just reading about my random life experiences, I am helping people with my words.
I also want to point out that the look for the blog also changed. While I was self hosted in the past, I am now on WordPress and I couldn’t be happier. I am so excited to see what I can do with the SEO options and the widgets. It’s still such a learning process, and I am still trying to figure out the colors for the blog, but it’s going to be a great experience.
And there you have it! The changes seem minimal, but I am hoping that they make an obvious difference. I hope you’ll stick around to find out.
